Heart Study
Day 5
MEDIATIATION 5
BROKEN and LOVED
Your softer, forgiving heart has allowed you to see our heartbeats the way that Jesus sees them…broken and loved. The purpose of every human heartbeat is to love. Jesus is God and “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God. and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16) (Matthew 22: 37-39) “You shall love the Lord your God with all your HEART, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jesus’ death on the cross for you was His greatest statement of His heart towards you. Jesus’ choice to endure agonizing death and mistreatment because of our hardened hearts that choose to sin, is a great statement of forgiveness too. Suffering and dying for someone is the greatest proof of a love there is. Jesus loves you. His love is sacrificial toward you and yours must be towards Him and others too. The servant is not above His master. (John 15:20)
If you know in your heart that this is true, then Jesus’ way to love is the only path for you. His way is love. You and I have a better chance of finding hope in this hard world through love than any other remedy a hard-hearted world could ever offer. Countless individuals sit in counseling offices looking for lost love. Each of us, at one time or another, has chosen loveless paths of materialism, vanity, addiction, sex, success, and selfishness because someone else chose not to walk the path of unselfish love with us. Love can be hard to choose. Love can be hard to find. But love always begins with an open, soft heart. Jesus is looking for soft hearts and can not help but take notice of a heartbeat willing to follow the path of love. If you are willing to forgive and love, then He is willing to show you Himself.
Jesus said many things about love, all of them profound. He said that everything He did and taught was summed up in one word, love. Here are some of the key truths about love that He asks us to take into our hearts:
GOD’S HEART IN WORDS
1 Peter 1:22…love one another earnestly from the heart.
Luke 10:27 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
John 15:12This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
1 John 4:12 No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:20 If any one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.
1 John 4:16 So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.
John 15:13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:9 As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.
Because Jesus sees your open heart to Him, because you have asked for forgiveness and are willing to forgive, because you choose love….you have chosen Jesus. Now He asks you and your open, loving heart to go into your little corner of the world and share His love.
THINK ABOUT IT:
-
Ponder in your heart the fact that Jesus loves you. Ponder how amazing it is that although you cannot see Him, you know in your heart that He is real.
-
Reflect on the fact that there is an invisible world where love is supreme and Jesus is real and He really, really , really loves you and wants to talk to you and guide you in this life.
-
Chew on the thought that your heartbeat was always planned, you are alive because your Creator has plans for you and your beating heart.
-
Try to grasp that Jesus communes with you in your heart. Your heartbeat goes everywhere you go. Every time you turn inward to your heart and speak to Him…He is there!!
-
Realize that your heart is powerful and fragile; your heart can change so there is a battle in front of you to maintain a loving, pure, clean, forgiving heart and evil is real. You will be fighting for your heart and other’s as long as you love Jesus and are committed to following Him.
DO IT:
-
If Jesus has touched your heart, tell Him so. Tell Him that you want to love and follow Him. Tell Him you want to learn from Him. Keep doing this over and over. No matter how many times you sin. No matter how many times you forget about Him…keep going back to Him in your heart.
-
Read Corinthians 13 about what love is. Put your name everywhere you see the word “love”. Are you like love?
-
Read Matthew 25. Listen to what Jesus says about who gets to stay near to Him and who doesn’t.
-
Chew on and swallow into your heart Jesus’ words that instruct us about love. Now go love!
