thinking spiritually about abortion

Did You Know that…

You did not create yourself! You and I are created beings. Now is a good time to acknowledge that we could never create this world or put cells together in such a way to create a single human being. Even though we can manipulate human cells in a lab, we cannot create them from anything. All the raw materials of oxygen and carbon and mechanisms of sex in this world belong to its Creator, who alone can create and take life.

Through our love and wise choices, we can cooperate with the Creator of life in loving all forms of creation, but we are not the Creator. We inherited this world and were born into it and not by our own choice. We were all born into a world that already had its own natural, scientific and moral laws. We know this in our hearts...we know we are here on earth to care for each other and this beautiful earth.

For the big life questions of “how to” and “why?” of living and caring for life on planet earth, especially with regards to abortion,  maybe it’s a good idea to ask the Creator. We can choose to find out what the Creator thinks about this world, our bodies, our earth, sex and our lives or we can create our own world and reasoning of how to live in the Creator’s world. Once you became pregnant, you became a co-creator with God (Spirit and Truth and Goodness). When you love others or your unborn baby, you are cooperating with your Creator in loving the world. The Creator is love, He has a name and so does your unborn baby.

How amazing is it that you can help to create a new life and other wonderful things like ideas and art and relationships of love? Sometimes by things going wrong or being faced with unexpected trials and unexpected babies, we discover that life doesn’t seem to make sense. Sometimes unplanned things happen and it  feels scary. And sometimes that scary thing is an unplanned pregnancy. But often the unexpected can take us down new roads leading to places we never imagined. Unplanned babies can point us to life, then hope, then find our way to the Creator of life. Our spirits are meant to find our Creator and love His creations whether they are big or little and still forming, whether they are planned or unexpected. We are all meant to live and love and choose life. We are meant to respect life in every way it comes to us while we are here in the Creator’s world...in the ocean, the stars, and in other human beings. We are meant to acknowledge the rights and goodness of the unexpected human beings we find in our wombs. There is a reason for our existence and for our unborn child's as well. Our spirits know this. We know we are meant to let go of the fear of the unknown and CHOOSE LIFE.

As thinking human beings, Women do have choices about their pregnancy, but not all of them are right or good for them or their unborn child. Women are not just bodies, nor unborn babies just a group of cells or a body, depending on how you look at it. Women and babies have spirits too. We are physical and spiritual beings so what one does with her body and her baby’s body will affect her spirit. It is a law of the universe. The physical and spiritual touch on planet earth. Science is understanding this now more than ever. We ask you to consider your spirit and your baby’s as you think through abortion. Unfortunately, we can reason ourselves into wrong decisions when we forget about our spirits and the spirit of the Creator. Usually, this happens when we make decisions from a place of fear, not hope.

Our Creator has a name, and His heart beats for you. He made you and loves you. Those who find Him and love Him call Him God the Father, Jesus, Holy spirit. He waits for you.

Thoughts from the Creator

Psalm 139:13-15 - For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well my frame was not hidden from thee when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth. 16 Thy eyes beheld my unformed substance; in thy book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Jeremiah 1:5 - "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you."

Psalm 71: 6 - "By You, I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother’s womb; My praise is continual of You."

"Abortion willed as an end or as a means, always constitutes a grave moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being. This doctrine is based upon the natural law and upon the written word of God, is transmitted by the Church’s tradition, and is taught by the ordinary and universal magisterium. No circumstance, no purpose, no law whatsoever can ever make licit an act which is intrinsically illicit, since it is contrary to the law of God which is written in every human heart, knowable by reason itself, and proclaimed by the Church" (Evangelium Vitae 62).
